Leah Gazan
Research Officer: Land, Law and GovernanceLeah Gazan is a member of Wood Mountain Lakota Nation, located in Saskatchewan. She is currently a professor/coordinator in the Faculty of Education at the University of Winnipeg. She has 17 years experience in the area of community capacity building and development which includes program creation and management, training, governance structure development, and program assessment. Leah has worked extensively with First Nations communities in the Provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Leah completed her Bachelors of Education Degree at the University of Winnipeg in 1998 to go on to receive her Masters Degree from Central Michigan University in 2003 in which she focused her Capstone on building Capacity through training in First Nations. Leah was invited to present her Capstone in New Zealand in 2006 at the Involve Conference. Her dedication towards the advancement of community self-sufficiency and self-determination has been her inspiration for delivering programs and services to both the inner city and rural Indigenous Communities.
Leah is a part-time Research Officer with Land, Law and Governance Research Directorate.
