Join Our Members Council

The National Centre for First Nations Governance seeks applications for volunteers to sit on the Centre’s National Members Council. This is an ongoing process and there is no time limit to your application. The Nominations Committee will review applications on a continuance basis and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for membership.

The National Members Council is made up of 30 members who are responsible for the election of 13 Board of Directors selected from the National Members Council. The Council meets once a year over a two day period and acts in a volunteer advisory capacity. Directors of the Board will be required to attend meetings on a quarterly basis (at least four times per year) and must be willing to make a significant commitment in time, be willing to travel, and must own a computer with access to internet and email.

Preferred candidates will be represented from various regions, and be held in high esteem among First Nations Peoples of a variety of political persuasions. Preferred candidates will demonstrate a strong knowledge and experience in the following areas; Nation Building, Strategic Planning, Financial Management and Analysis, Fundraising, Professional Development, Community Governance and Self-Government, Research, Communication and Traditional Governance.

Members are appointed to the Council as independent individuals interested in advancing the Centre’s mandate and goals. Members are not appointed as representatives of another organization and will act solely for the Centre’s mandates and goals.
