Milton Tootoosis
Policy and Implementation Officer, Prairies
Milton has extensive experience in human resource management at the tribal, provincialandfederallevels of government. His professional andpersonal interests enhance and build communities of collaboration with attention to building healthy First Nations communities and creating positive relationships with non – First Nations governments and organizations. He has served as an elected trustee for the Poundmaker Cree Nation Treaty Land Entitlement committee and was a candidate for Chief of his community. Milton has served on numerous committees and boards with a focused attention to creating capacity within First Nations communities.
Milton is grounded in his Cree culture and the community teachings of the Poundmaker Cree Nation in Treaty Six Territory. Milton received his Bachelor of Indigenous Studies in 1985, has studied public administration and taken numerous professional development courses. He has been associated with strong mentors throughout his personal and professional life.
Milton comes from a family of seven and an ever growing extended family. He is married to Shelly and has three grown children, all residing in Saskatchewan Milton’s personal interests include First Nations governance and culture, hockey, collecting of sports memorabilia, international business and global social issues.
