Board Member Profiles

Shannin Metatawabin

Shannin Metatawabin is a Mushkegowuk Cree who grew up on the Fort Albany First Nation, located on the shores of James Bay, ON. Mr. Metatawabin worked in Aboriginal Economic Development for eight years, delivering the Aboriginal Business Canada (ABC) program with ABC and provided business financing with the Waubetek Business Development Corporation.  Currently Shannin is the regional coordinator of the Vancouver Coastal Aboriginal Planning Committee, building an organization that will eventually devolve Aboriginal Child and Family Services from government in the Vancouver region.  Shannin earned a degree in Political Science and Economics from Carleton University Ottawa, ON., as well as an Aboriginal Economic Development Certificate from the University of Waterloo, ON. He is currently working toward a certificate in management fundamentals from the University of Toronto and next fall will pursue his MBA. On a personal note, Shannin is newly married and has two amazing daughters.
