Sheldon Tetreault

Director: Governance Advisory Services

Sheldon Tetreault is the Director of Governance Advisory Services for the National Centre for First Nations Governance. Mr. Tetreault joined the National Centre in 2006 as the Regional Manager for British Columbia. Since 2008 he as served as the Director of Governance Advisory Services. Mr. Tetreault brings over 15 years of senior level management and policy experience in First Nation governments to his current position where is he is responsible for providing strategic advice to First Nations on nation re-building. Mr. Tetreault has figured prominently in the development of core thinking and services of the National Centre including the NCFNG Principles to Support Effective Governance, the NCFNG Governance Best Practices Report, the Governance Capacity Assessment Research, and the Circle of Governance Excellence initiative. He has been instrumental in developing and facilitating workshops on Culture, Tradition & Effective Governance; Constitution Development; and Territorial Rights. Formerly, he was the Senior Administrator for the Lil’wat Nation where he participated in the development and ratification of the Shared Legacy Agreement making Lil’wat Nation one of the Four Host First Nations in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. His working experience is complimented by a Masters degree of Public Administration from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor Arts (Honours) degree in Comparative Development Studies from Trent University. Mr. Tetreault has deep roots in the Métis and francophone communities of Manitoba.
